Wedding Party

We met on our first day of uni back in 2017, though our story started earlier, with Britt’s mum Jo being one of Bec’s high school teachers. Studying similar degrees and carefully planning classes around each other, we quickly became close friends. Britt has been there through some of the best and worst moments of Bec’s life (all handled with a shared sense of dark humour), including a front-row seat to the beginning of Bec and Tom’s relationship, for better or worse. We also lived together in the decrepit Coburg North share house, where we both acquired COVID dogs and got through that strange time side by side, largely fuelled by ABBA, Shrek, and Auspol memes. We’ve travelled together, including when Bec flew to Europe to visit Britt while she was studying abroad, spending New Year’s in Paris, which was somewhat of a disaster, but is now remembered fondly and with great humour. Now Britt lives in Ballarat completing a PhD, but we still make time for wine, yapping, and rewatching Twilight.

Vanessa was Bec’s first friend after moving to the big smoke when she got a job at Brunswick IGA. We are now trauma bonded for life after encountering a rotating cast of characters that gave us enough stories to last a lifetime. She was a key part of Bec’s early “city era”, with her dad Sal always happy to give Bec a lift home. We also spent many Sunday mornings working together, which meant Bec could provide weekly updates after her Saturday night zoom date with Tom -while gossiping with Vanessa, customers, and other employees, with everyone getting a chance to weigh in. Vanessa also gave Bec the Shrek poster that famously caught Tom's eye all those years ago. Which means this entire wedding can be traced back to a thoughtful gift between friends... and an excellent taste in home décor. A lover of brunches, knick knacks, boardgames, and all things creative.

Sisters by law, friend by force. Rebbecca met Bec’s brother Phill what feels like a million years ago (back when they were in high school) and has been part of the family ever since. We spent our awkward teenage years living side by side in various forms of chaos. Rebbecca even used to give Bec the occasional lift to school- thanks Phill for dating up! Witchy, with a slightly twisted sense of humour, Rebbecca naturally works in human services.

Tom’s sister and soon-to-be Bec’s sister-in-law. Andrea loves beating Tom at games just as much as Bec does, making them a strong team whenever they join forces against him. She has also been a guide through the ins and outs of Mediterranean families, helping Bec navigate the chaos, traditions, and endless food that comes with it. She has a small zoo of animals, a big heart, and works in education design.
